  1. Violator is possibly one of my most favorite records I ever listened to. Alan Wilder together with Flood had created incredible soundscapes, Martin Gore wrote beautiful lyrics, and David Gahan's smooth and buttery voice still sends chills down my spine after so many years. Depeche is one of the best bands of all time. And as always, great video and great channel!

  2. It's a glorious record with a simple guitar hook backed with haunting keyboards, still gives me goosebumps, the bands finest hour in my opinion and of the best tracks of the 90's. In the video st the beginning the band look so fucking cool, they know they were the best band on the planet, although I dont think they've ever been as good without Alan Wilder though.

  3. It was a game changer for me. So pleasing to the ear at a time when the radio was more rock hair bands and pop songs that sounded brittle. It was an amazing entryway to similar songs on Violator, a callback and forward from the early 80s music, and a departure from Personal Jesus, which had a rock element. I immediately thought of not just quiet but also peace when I heard it. It made me feel relaxed and peaceful like an electronic piece of new age music would have if I had been exposed to that sort of thing at the time on the radio. Just the epitome of beauty. I saw them perform it in Detroit later on the Violator tour as I'm sure many here did and it became a coveted song and album for the decade as rock music and rap dominated the radio and I sought out better things to listen to.

  4. This has to be one of the songs DM plays at the RnR hall of fame ceremony. I'd also like them to perform "just can't get enough " to pay homage to the start of their career and "everything counts".

AW better be on stage playing with them with Peter and Christian nowhere in the building….

  5. I REALLY wish DM or Mute would release the video version! The beginning is absolutely fantastic!!! WAY better than any other version that’s been released!

  6. Wow! I will be 50 in 3 months time… so yes, I was 20 when this came out and was studying at University, I was the weird loner with the weird taste in music, but hey, not my fault that people around me didn’t have good taste. Having been a DM fan since I first heard New Life when I was 11, this song was validation to me that DM were simply one of the best bands EVER!

This is one of the best songs ever, probably only topped by Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart. This and “Halo” are their best songs ever, as for Violator, well, I am still playing it 30 years later. Thank you DM for making such a sublime piece of art. One of my most cherished items is a limited edition piece of art, which is a 15 second soundwave of Enjoy the Silence, oil onto canvas and signed by the band…. it’s a stunning piece of art for a simply amazing song.

  7. Stuck in my ear the moment I heard it.
    Wonderful.
To me,this was Depeche Mode leaving the 80s and knowingly entering the 90s with the club production and their understanding of how the drums should sound at that time.
Worked perfectly alongside the choir sounding pads, the icey synths, the vocals and lyrics, and that video.
None of it planned but,it just works .
One of my favorite songs of all time.

  8. I was already a crazy Depeche fan and when I first heard this in the club. I told my brother whoever these guys are they are much better then Depeche Mode. Little did I know it was DM. Found out two days later when a coworker played and I asked him who are they. He told me DM! I thought he was joking with me because he knew I was a huge fan so I asked him seriously who are they? Crazy

  9. Alright this is Mondy and I am fine and Gandy, Brit Pop without an argument comercially divers places and solemn solitude and miracle silence, and absolute comfort is made by a spirit well obiedient, the comforter, well educated and not rebellious; not of the sons of disobiedience. Lord Mondiy Fund Goshen Jeru Montes Oca Israel Brittany Juliet.

  10. Violator isn’t only my favourite DM album, it’s my favourite album period. Enjoy the silence possibly their best single buts it’s very hard to choose one.
