Pet Shop Boys performed “Always On My Mind” for the UK TV show, Love Me Tender. This was the original video before the official EMI version. Enjoy. By the way, I restored the audio to this video – the original source is from another YouTube user who extracted this video from an old tape.

  1. Always On My Mind"

Maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could
Little things I should've said and done, I never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine
If I made you feel second best, I'm so sorry, I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
    Satisfied

Little things I should've said and done, I never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could
Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine

    (Maybe I didn't love you…)

  2. Pet Shop Boys and LeatherMen imagery? What could be more perfect?
Oh, yes – doing a superb version of Elvis Presley's "Always on my mind" and not only re-inventing it, but also creating a definitve 1980's pop classic in the same stroke! Stunning!

I never saw THIS TV video version of the song at the time – I wished I'd had!
They were so popular that they weren't considered as being "gay" when they "came out" in the mid 1980's. This video might've changed people's minds!
I found the Pet Shop Boys influential because of their use of lyrics (C'mon – "West End Girls", in 1986, was stunning!) AND their way of being uncompromising when they made their performances – they shifted the focus onto the song rather than how they'd looked of if they danced or not. They were/are also quintessentially British and unapologetically so, which I think only increased their iconic status as the years went by. This rare video brings back to us the memory of them, pushing boundaries, even back in 1987.
